It was indeed a message from eTwinning and Dr. Steam, a scientist who asked for the children’s help and assigned them their first mission: to make a new cape for Shady, a superheroine whose powers are based on light and shadow. After the children had watched the video Dr Steam had send, we discussed it together in order to understand what Mr. Steam was asking us to do and which our mission was. During the discussion, the concepts of light and shadow emerged as well as students questions. This initial investigation of the children’s previous knowledge , as well as their questions and what they wanted to learn was written down with the use of the KWLH diagram, a useful tool for organizing information on a topic, but also for evaluating the learning process.
